Any aggregate of people united by ties of descent from a common ancestor, community of customs and traditions, adherence to the same leaders, etc.
A Tribe is what we are, although the ranks of new faces in skateboarding seem to grow larger by the day, a few seminal figures will always stand head and shoulders above the rest. People, who without their guidance and support our tribe would fall apart, Bruce Tyler and Lance Katz are two of those folks. Without them we would not have the luxury of spending beautiful Sunday afternoons at places much dearer to our hearts than most any place of worship, without them the gatherings we have all come to look forward to wouldn’t exist. They do this for YOU, so that the kids have a place to go, and contests to skate and a means to expand their skills, and most important a place and time for us to gather together and share the thing that has governed so much of our lives. These fools are not getting rich doing this, Hell, who do you think pays for those pork chops, those murderburgers, all that product that gets given away to winners or tossed to a ripper for bustin out everything they got. Without those two, the Nates, Angie, and others who pour their souls into making this happen, we wouldn’t have a scene, or parks like OP or anything that brings as much joy into any of our pathetic skate-scum lives as those few hours that we get from just getting to be at MurderSquad Contests.
That’s why it baffles me that I even need to write the next part of this article, TO STEAL FROM YOUR OWN KIND IS ONE OF THE LOWEST THINGS YOU CAN DO. You don’t steal from skateboarders, no excuse is remotely acceptable. To stoop to such a level shows the true face of what Human-Garbage looks like. When you try to take from the people who pour their heart and souls into making these events happen for our community you steal from all of us.
What happened at OP towards the end of the Bangers for Bucks yesterday was the epitome of Trash, it’s not the value of what was taken that makes this despicable, it’s the fact that you robbed the people out there laying it all the way out for a chance at a few bucks, you stole from the joy that we all got to share in watching them try. The principal of the matter is this, I’m sorry nobody ever told you this when you were young, stealing is never ok, but stealing from your own people is as low as it gets period. Bruce, Lance, both Nates, Angie, and anyone else involved in making events like yesterday happen, Skateboarding can’t even begin to thank you enough, I hope we as a community can do our best to make sure nothing like this ever happens.
Stop it with the FuckShit and go outside and skate. #99centfloridamugs
